Hyderabad: Waqf Board files missing from office, complaint filed with Abids police station

Hyderabad: A complaint has been filed with the Abids police station regarding important land files missing from the Waqf Board’s office.

According to the complainant, Mohammed Asif Khan, Tahsildar/OSD, Telangana Waqf Board, Nampally, stated that there has been a theft of notes containing information about certain files of the Waqf Board. The complaint called it a ‘malicious and fraudulent act’.

These documents were secured in electronic form from the original files from the Chamber of the Chairman.

Earlier, the Officer on Special Duty submitted a letter with a request to take cognisance of the theft. An investigation into the alleged theft of information in digital and electronic form was requested.

Second complaint about missing files

A complaint was filed earlier, too. The first one was lodged under provisions of The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act 2000. However, so far, no FIR has been registered. This is the second complaint made to the Hyderabad police.

The Telangana Waqf Board has requested the Hyderabad police to take criminal action.

It is pertinent to note that the Waqf Board is headed by a chairman and holds authority over many lands in the Twin Cities. Documents of any form going missing, especially related to the Waqf properties, is a serious offence.
