Hyderabad: Young mother kills twins before ending her own life at Padmarao Nagar; case registered

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old woman allegedly killed her two-year-old twins before ending her life at Padmarao Nagar Phase-I under Balanagar police limits on Tuesday.

Tragedy in the Early Hours

According to police, the deceased woman, identified as Challari Sailakshmi (27), is suspected to have strangled her two-year-old boy, Chethan Karthikeya, and a girl, Lashyatha Valli, between 3:50 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Soon after the incident, residents alerted the police upon finding Sailakshmi’s body near the building. The children were found lifeless inside the house, police said.

Family from Eluru District

Sailakshmi and her husband, Anil, hailed from Nuziveedu in the Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh and had been living in a rented house at Padmarao Nagar Phase-I for some time.

The couple, according to neighbours, had recently been facing domestic and financial stress, though the exact reason behind the extreme act is yet to be established.

Police Probe Underway

Balanagar police reached the spot soon after receiving information and conducted a detailed inspection. The bodies were shifted for postmortem to Gandhi Hospital.

A case has been registered, and police are verifying the possible causes that led Sailakshmi to take such a drastic step. Officials said that preliminary findings point to domestic issues, but further investigation is in progress.

Community in Shock

The tragic death of the young mother and her toddlers has left the local community grief-stricken. Neighbours described Sailakshmi as a quiet and caring mother, making the incident all the more distressing.

Police have appealed to the public to seek timely help in cases of domestic distress or emotional breakdowns, stressing the importance of mental health awareness and early intervention.
