Hyderabad: In a latest development in the iBomma movie piracy case, the website founder, Immadhi Ravi, was arrested again on a PT warrant in a newly registered case.
The Nampally court remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody on Wednesday.
With the latest case, a total of five criminal cases have now been registered against Ravi, all related to the illegal streaming operations, copyright violation and associated cyber offences.
New case based on latest probe findings
Ravi was arrested by the cybercrime police nearly 10 days ago in connection with a case and was remanded to judicial custody. The court had earlier granted the police five days of custody for further investigation.
After the completion of the custody period on Tuesday, he was once again produced before the court and remanded. Police officials said a new case was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station following fresh inputs that surfaced during the ongoing probe into the illegal streaming website network.
Police officials said several digital devices and transaction records seized earlier are under detailed forensic verification.
As Ravi is already lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail, police secured a PT warrant to bring him out for questioning and court proceedings.
Ravi produced before two magistrates
After being taken into custody, Ravi was first produced before the 9th Metropolitan Magistrate and subsequently before the 8th Metropolitan Magistrate.
After hearing the submissions, the court ordered 14 days of judicial remand. He was later shifted back to Chanchalguda Jail under police escort.
Second custody sought
Cybercrime police have now filed a petition before the Nampally court seeking a second spell of seven-day police custody for further interrogation in connection with the multiple cases. The court is expected to pronounce its order on the custody plea on Thursday.
