A similar incident took place three weeks ago when a 16-year-old IIIT student, Mandala Ramunaidu, died by suicide on the Nuzivid college campus. His death was allegedly due to his being away from home.
The latest incident happened on Sunday morning. The girl lay unnoticed for at least four hours after the incident. Fortunately, a person who supplies milk to the campus saw the girl and immediately alerted the college management. She was lying in a pool of blood. She was taken to Vijayawada hospital for treatment.
According to the Nuzivid sub-inspector (town) T. Rama Krishna, "The student was allegedly suffering from depression due to her poor academic performance. Their first-year results were announced, and she had four backlogs. Doctors said she had severe injuries on her legs, hands, and spinal cord and is in critical condition."
