Illegal gambling house in Kalapathar raided; 22 organisers, players held with Rs 46.55 lakhs

Hyderabad: As many as 22 people were caught playing poker in an illegal gambling house in Kalapathar and around Rs 46.55 lakhs was seized from the gang.

The sleuths of Commissionerā€™s Task Force, South Zone Team along with Kalapathar Police raided the gambling house in Kalapathar and made the arrests. They also seized 108 sealed playing card boxes, a cash counting machine among other contraband.

The main organiser of the gang has been identified as Shaik Mohammed Khadeer (38). His employees accused of assisting the illegal gambling den are Mohd Nayeem, Shaik Pasha and Mohd Majeed. The players present during the raid have been identified as Mohd Saleem, Narsimha, B Surya Naidu, J Ramu Goud, T Raghavendra, P Ashwin, P Mallikarjun, A Naveen, A Shaker Babu, J Karthik, J Anand Reddy, K Naresh Kumar, Shaik Abdul Siraj, D Venkatesh, M Ailesh, B Chatrapathi and P Sekhar.

A total of Rs 46,55,810 was seized from them.

The main organiser/accused was born and brought up in Hyderabad. Since a young age, he has been addicted to playing cards. Subsequently, he became an organiser and used to run an illegal gambling house in different places within the limits of Tri-Commissionerates.

Further, he was arranging the punters to the different organisers at Goa, Nepal, Sri Lanka and other places. For his illegal activities, he selected his brother-in-lawā€™s house in Kalapathar which was in front of his house and started running a gambling house on the premises. He also employed people to help him run the operation.

Based on a credible tip-off on the night of September 7, the Commissionerā€™s Task Force Police, along with Kalapathar Police, raided the gambling house and arrested the players.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
