Illegal IPL betting racket busted in Hyderabad, 12 bookies held

By Newsmeter Network Published on 20 April 2023 12:24 PM GMTHyderabad: Two illegal cricket betting gangs busted in Hyderabad by the SOT Medchal zone of Cyberabad police commissionerate. In view of the ongoing IPL 2023, the police have been vigilant about betting activities.
Based on credible information, the police teams conducted raids at two places on 19 April under the Pet Basheerabad police station limits of the Medchal zone. The police apprehended 12 cricket bookies who were organising online cricket betting rackets and seized cash Rs. 50 lakhs, five betting boards, eight laptops, 62 mobile phones, 20 smartphones, a tab, four TVs, a router, and four four-wheelers from their possession. The seized property was all worth Rs. 1,41,52,548.
The accused have been identified as Muthina Vasanth Kumar (42), Ponduri Venkat Sai (28), Kalidindi Venkata Ramaraju (41), Kruthiventi Ramesh (34), Chittibomma Karthik (32), Badam Veeresh (37), Bandari Shiva kumar (37), Middela Manoj Kumar (40), Chintala Venkata Padma Chandra Mohan Rao (43), Chandrapati Satish Kumar (30), Manne Sathyanarayana (31), and Patapati Ravi Varma (30).
The police have warned people to be vigilant about the following mobile apps: Bet 365, MPL, Betway, Dream Guru, My 11 Circle, Bet 365, Coral, Bwin, 777 Bet, Dafabet, Winner, Cricket Betting 2020, Just Bet, Betfred, and Lotus Cricket Line.
They also warned of cyber theft of data of bank accounts and personal data, which may result in unauthorised money transfers and blackmailing using personal photos and data. āIt is learnt that due to loss of money in betting and repaying the bookies, the victims are taking loans and selling off property,ā said the police.
