Illegal late-night party in Moinabad farmhouse raided; 51 foreigners detained with liquor

Hyderabad: A late-night raid by Cyberabad Police at a farmhouse in Moinabad led to the detention of 51 foreign nationals for participating in an unauthorised birthday party.

The event, held without police permission, saw large quantities of liquor being served and loud music being played well past permissible hours.

Tip-off leads to raid

Around 10 pm on August 14, police received credible information about an unauthorised gathering at SK Retreat in Bakaram Revenue Village.

Acting swiftly, Rajendranagar Zone police teams, aided by the Special Operations Team (SOT) Shamshabad, reached the spot and found 14 men and 37 women celebrating the party.

Liquor seized, no excise licence

On inspection, police seized 90 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) stored without an excise licence. The haul included Beer: Budweiser tins (59), Bacardi (7), Breezer (4 bottles), Whisky and Brandy: Iconic White (3), Mansion House (1), Royal Challenge (1), Wine: Sula (5) bottles, and others: McDowell’s (1), Vodka bottles (9). Loudspeakers used for the party were also seized.

Guests from 11 Nations

The detained foreigners hailed from 11 countries. Uganda topped the list with 37 attendees, followed by Nigeria (2) and Liberia (3). Others came from Botswana, Kenya, Cameroon, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Malawi.

Immigration probe initiated

Immigration officials were called in to verify the validity of the guests’ documents and the purpose of their stay in India. While six women and nine men with valid papers were released, others were issued Restriction Orders by the Bureau of Immigration and moved to a Holding Centre.

Previous drug use detected

Enquiries revealed that two women and one man present had a history of ganja consumption.

Case registered against farmhouse

Police have booked the management of SK Retreat for violating excise laws and conducting a gathering without prior permission. Further legal action will be taken once the immigration report is finalised.
