Illegal sale of defence canteen liquor in Malkajgiri, Medchal busted; 60 bottles seized
Hyderabad: The Telangana Excise Department seized over 60 bottles of defence canteen liquor from Malkajgiri and Medchal and apprehended an ex-serviceman for illegal trade.
37 bottles seized in Malkajgiri
Based on credible information, a team led by AES Mukund Reddy conducted raids in Malkajgiri and confiscated 37 liquor bottles meant exclusively for defence personnel. The liquor was reportedly sourced from Karnataka defence canteens and illegally resold.
Two individuals with defence backgrounds, Purushotham of Yapral and Mupparapu Siddayya of Kaukuru, were caught allegedly selling liquor. Officials estimate the seized alcohol to be worth Rs 75,000.
24 bottles confiscated in Medchal
In a parallel operation, Medchal Excise officials, including CI Navaneeth, AES Madhavayya, and DTF officer Narasireddy, conducted searches near bus and vehicle parking areas. They found 24 liquor bottles, believed to have been brought by migrant labourers from Haryana and other States. The estimated value of the seized liquor is Rs 48,000.
Excise Superintendents Naveen (Malkajgiri) and SK Faiyazuddin (Medchal) praised their respective teams for their vigilance and prompt response in tackling the illegal defence liquor trade.
