The rising temperatures over the past week are suspected to be the reason for the explosion.
The explosion occurred in a shed inside a paddy field beside a petrol bunk and a rice mill. Fortunately, the explosion did not spread to the Indian Oil fuel retail outlet. With the blast creating a series of loud sounds from the crackers, panicked locals rushed to a safer place.
According to East Godavari police, the explosion occurred around 9 am. Only one person suffered minor injuries when a stone flew from the blastās impact and hit him.
The police claimed that the owner of Vijaya Durga fireworks, Kakala Govind, had illegally dumped the crackers in the dilapidated shed. Though he had a licence, he did not have permission to store the crackers in that shed.
