Inter-faith marriage: Newlywed groom killed by wifes brother in Saroor Nagar

Hyderabad: A newlywed man was brutally murdered by his wife's brother and his friend at Saroor Nagar of Rachakonda commissionerate on Wednesday night. The accused stabbed the victim while his wife managed to flee the spot. The victim and his wife belong to different faiths and got married in January 2022.

ACP LB Nagar P Sreedhar Reddy said special teams have been formed to nab the accused.

The victim in his mid-20s belonging to Vikarabad district and the girl in his early 20s, from the city fell in love and got married against the wishes of their families. They were staying in a rented house at Saroor Nagar.

The victim was working as a sales executive. On Wednesday night, when they were returning home, two persons onboard a vehicle asked them to stop. Before they could react, the accused attacked the victim with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot. Later he fled the spot.

Panic gripped the area after the incident. Alerted by locals, police rushed to the spot and started an investigation.
