Hyderabad: Police bust inter-state child trafficking racket in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh 

Hyderabad: An inter-state child trafficking ring was busted and 11 persons were arrested for illegally procuring four infants from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, for sale to needy parents. The four infants, which include to male and female babies, were rescued and sent to a government home.

The infants were transported with the help of two persons and sold to three needy families in AP and Telangana states through mediators residing in Hyderabad.

The infants have been procured for sale by Kola Krishnaveni (26), Battu Deepthi (35), Goutham Savithri Devi (27) from Ahmedabad, Battu Sravan Kumar (38), Amgoth Sharada (38) and Budidhi Sampath Kumar (40). The persons involved in buying the infants were identified as Oguti Naga Venkata Pavan Bhagavan (35), Oguti Rama Sravani (31), Teppala Vinay Kumar (40), Teppala Swathi (38) and Lingala Ramesh (40).

Main accused met trafficking agent using social media

According to police records, the main accused Kola Krishnaveni was caught in child trafficking case in 2024 when she procured a baby by contacting an illegal agent on social media.

is a resident of Quthbullapur of Medchal-Malkajgiri District. She studied BSc Biochemistry in 2016 and married during her graduation. In 2019, she divorced over fertility issues and joined Abbot company as a medical representative.

Later, one of her friends approached her and requested her to cooperate in purchasing/adopting a child as she was in medical field. Kola Krishnaveni searched for adoption of infants in social media and came in contact with one Manoj of Delhi in 2024. Manoj assured her of getting a baby boy in exchange of Rs 5 lakh. When Manoj brought the infant to Hyderabad to give it to Krishnaveni, they were caught by Gopalapuram Police.

Modus operandi

In the present case, Kola Krishnaveni was requested by her friends Battu Deepthi and her husband Sampath Kumar for a child.

Kola Krishnaveni, through social media, came in contact with Vandana, a resident of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She agreed to procure and send infants to Hyderabad for Rs 1.5 lakh for a baby girl and Rs 2.5 lakh for a baby boy.

Accordingly, Vandana sent two baby boys and two baby girls from Gujarat with the help of Sunitha Suman and Savitri Devi. After receiving the infants, Kola Krishnaveni, Deepthi and Sampath Kumar through mediators Sharada, Umarani, Jayasree, Sravan, Soni Keerthi sold three infants to three different persons in AP and Telangana for an amount of Rs 2-3 lakh per baby girl and Rs 4-5 lakh per baby boy and shared the amount among themselves.

Based on a tip-off, the SOT team Malkajgiri along with Chaitanyapuri Police, CWC members on Tuesday, rushed to Chaitanyapuri bus stop where they found Kola Krishnaveni, Savitri Devi, Sampath Kumar along with an infant baby boy.

They were arrested after which they confessed to have committed the crime of procuring infants illegally and selling them to needy people. The other three infants were rescued from the house of Battu Deepthi.

The accused further confessed that as they did not receive complete amount from the purchasers they have called all of them today on the pretext of giving birth certificates and adoption certificates.
