New Delhi: NIA has arrested Muniyad Ali Khan, a key operator in an international gold smuggling network after he was deported from UAE.
Global Operations Centre of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) closely coordinated with NIA and INTERPOL National Central Bureau - Abu Dhabi for Khanās depuration from UAE.
Khan, according to NIA, is a key operator in an international gold smuggling network.
He returned to India on September 10. A team from NIA took him into custody at Jaipur Airport.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) registered a case in 2020 related to the seizure of smuggled gold bars at Jaipur International Airport, Rajasthan, on July 3,.2020.
During the investigation, it was found that subject Muniyad Ali Khan had allegedly conspired in the illegal smuggling of gold bars from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia into India along with the co-accused.
He along with the co-accused had provided gold bars to be smuggled from Riyadh to Jaipur. He is involved in international Gold smuggling from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Jaipur, India. The accused was charge-sheeted by NIA on March 22,.2021 before NIA Special Court, Jaipur. He is wanted for criminal conspiracy for offenses under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
CBI on request of NIA had got Red Notice issued against Khan from INTERPOL in 2021. It was circulated to all law enforcement agencies globally for tracking of the wanted criminal. He was geolocated in the UAE.
