Hyderabad: Acting on specific information, the sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT), LB Nagar Zone team along with Abdullapurmet police busted an interstate drug peddling and seized 30 kilograms of contraband ganja. The police apprehended an interstate drug peddler Lavudiya Ganesh. They also seized a Yamaha FZ motorcycle, a mobile phone, all worth Rs.8,25,000 from his possession.
The arrested Ganesh, a 28-year-old JCB driver, is a resident of Yellampet village in Kamareddy.
Modus operandi
Being a JCB driver, Ganesh used to go to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha for work. During these work visits, he came to know that there is a huge demand for ganja in Kamareddy and other parts of Telangana. So he planned to peddle ganja from the agency area in AP to Kamareddy and thereby make easy money by selling ganja for double the price. He purchased 30 kgs of ganja from the agency area of Chinthur area in Vizag and transported it to Hyderabad and Kamareddy district for selling.
In the early hours on 1 June, on tip off information the SOT, LB Nagar Team along with Abdullahpurmet police intercepted Yamaha FZ motorcycleat ORR toll gate and apprehended the accused person, seized 30 Kgs of ganja and the other materials used for commission of the offence from his possession.
The Abdullapurmet police registered a case against him under Section 20 (b) (ii) (c) of NDPS Amendment Act 2001.
