The SOT received credible information that online cricket betting was being organised on an IPL match between Sun Risers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans at a flat in Kalki Apartment in Madeenaguda, Miyapur.

IPL cricket betting racket busted in Hyd; 2 held

Hyderabad: The special operations team, Madhapur zone, busted an online cricket betting racket and arrested two bookies on 11 April. The team received credible information that online cricket betting was being organised on an IPL match between Sun Risers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans at a flat in Kalki Apartment in Madeenaguda, Miyapur. The cops raided the place and arrested Narra Durga Reddy (37) and Gorantla Dheeraj (30). They seized Rs. 10.15 lakh cash and smartphones.

The main bookie, Ranga Krishna Murthy, is absconding.

Ranga Krishna Murthi from Guntur was organising online cricket betting in Hyderabad. The other two bookies had taken main line access through Diamond Exchange App from Murthi. They had access to numerous bookies in Hyderabad through the online app. The profit and loss of the gamblers/punters could be seen from time to time on the online betting apps Fancy Life Entertainment Application, Live Line Guru, Cricket Mazza, Lotus, Bet-365, Bet fair, Kskline, VL group, and 777.com.

The illegal cash payment transactions were made online, but in some cases, the transactions were in cash, in case of huge amounts.

The Cyberabad police, in an advisory, warned people to stay vigilant about mobile apps like Bet365, Betway, Unibet, Leoragas, and 4RABET. They also warned of theft of bank account details and personal data which may result in unauthorised money transfers and blackmail.
