IPL finals: Rachakonda cops seize 9 lakh, arrest 2 involved in betting
By Newsmeter Network Published on 10 Nov 2020 4:00 PM GMTHyderabad: Acting on specific intelligence, the Rachakonda police seized 9 lakhs and nabbed two persons involved in organizing betting on the day of IPL finals. Searches were held in Mailardevpally on Tuesday and cops found cash and other electronic gadgets.
Based on credible information about a cricket racket involving huge amounts on the IPL final T20 match, Mailardevpally cop Ch Goparaju along with his team, raided a flat at Nethaji nagar, located near Budvel Railway station. The two arrested are identified as Mustigolla Mallesh (33) working as a driver and Koterla Satyanarayana(31) working for a private company.
Police found that the duo were organizing cricket betting via phone with their friends cum clients Venkat Reddy, Venkat Naidu and Narsing. It was also found that Venkat Reddy who hails from Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh was the key organizer and the other two are his friends however Reddy ran the entire show.
During questioning, accused Mallesh also told police that his share was Rs 4.90 lakh, while Satyanaraya was promised Rs 2.50 lakh, Narsingi had Rs 1.10 lakh and Venkat Naidu had Rs 50,000 share . The entire amount has supposed to be deposited into Venkat Reddy's account.
The Rachakonda cops have booked the two under gaming act.
Further investigation is underway, said ACP Rajendranagar Ashok Chakravarthy.
