Hyderabad: The body of a 10-year-old girl who went missing in Jawaharnagar in Medchal Malkajgiri was found in a lake in Dammaiguda on Friday morning.
According to reports, the girl went missing after her parents dropped her at school on Thursday. When she did not return home, the parents filed a police complaint.
Inspector Chandrasekhar, the SHO of Jawaharnagar police station, said the girl went out of her classroom to play. According to sources, she asked her friends to come with her but they refused. Footage from one of the CCTV cameras in the area showed the girl walking towards the lake.
The police are yet to investigate other details, including how the girl reached the lake. Her body has been sent for postmortem and the reports are expected in two days. As per the preliminary inquiry, no injuries were found on the girl's body.
Meanwhile, the girl's parents alleged that there was some foul play in the investigation. According to sources, they obstructed the ambulance carrying the girl's body and demanded they be shown the postmortem report.
