On 12 September 2017, the Jawaharnagar police received a complaint from a woman. She lived in Jawaharnagar with her sister and 11-year-old daughter as her husband worked at Amaravati.

On the night of 5 September 2017, Madhava Reddy went to the woman's house while her sister was away. When she opened the door and noticed Madhava, she immediately tried to close it but the accused pushed the door open, entered the house, and bolted the door from inside. He then dragged her into the room and raped her. He threatened to kill her and her family if she told anyone about the incident.
Based on the woman's complaint, a case was registered at the Jawaharnagar police station. Madhava Reddy was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. On the completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed.
On 4 April 2022, a court sentences Madhava Reddy to undergo life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 1,500.
