Hyderabad: Police arrested 16-year-old girl along with her 19-year-old boyfriend and bother for killing the girl's mother in Jeedimetla
Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl, along with the 19-year-old she was in a relationship and his younger brother, were arrested for the premeditated murder of her mother in Shapur Nagar, Jeedimetla.
The trio allegedly conspired to kill 39-year-old Satla Anjali after she objected to her daughter’s relationship. The Jeedimetla police, under Cyberabad Commissionerate, cracked the case within 24 hours of the crime, thanks to a swift and detailed investigation.
The murder came to light in the early hours of June 24 when Anjali’s sister, Thangellapally Shobha, filed a complaint after finding the victim dead at her residence in New LB Nagar.
Accused details
Pagilla Shiva Kumar alias Shiva (19) is an Intermediate II year student, resident of Nalgonda district. The two minors among the accused is the elder daughter of the deceased and Shiva’s juvenile brother.
Murder plot unfolds
According to police, the victim’s elder daughter (referred to as Child in Conflict with Law or CCL-1) was in a relationship with Pagilla Shiva Kumar (19), a DJ operator from Nalgonda district. The relationship was strongly opposed by the mother, leading to frequent quarrels. Enraged by the continued opposition, the juvenile allegedly conspired with her boyfriend and his juvenile brother (CCL-2) to kill her mother.
On the evening of June 23, the girl sent her younger sister out on an errand and invited Shiva Kumar and his brother into the house. Together, they strangled Anjali with a nylon chunni and inflicted a head injury to ensure her death.
After the act, the daughter locked the house and warned her younger sibling not to reveal anything. However, the younger child informed their aunt, leading to the discovery of the crime and immediate police action.
Arrests and confession
The investigation team, led by Inspector G. Mallesh of Jeedimetla Police Station, apprehended all three accused within a few hours of the complaint. During interrogation, the accused confessed to their roles in the crime. They have been produced before the competent authorities for judicial custody.
Forensic confirmation and evidence
The crime scene was examined by the Clues Team from Balanagar Division. Forensic samples were collected, and the body was sent to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy. The post-mortem report confirmed death due to strangulation, the police said.
