Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge C V S Sai Bhupathi also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Imran Ul Haq, a car driver, Hyderabad police said.
The case dates back to January 2019. Police said the convict would torture his wife over petty matters. He had also been demanding Rs 30,000 from his wife for buying a car, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) P Sai Chaitanya said.
On January 6, 2019, Haq stabbed his wife in the throat with a pair of scissors. Later he hit her on the head with a hammer and inserted a screw diver in her private parts before fleeing, police told the court.
Based on a complaint, a case was registered under Section 302 and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Later Haq was arrested.
Gist of the case:
Accused Imran Ul Haq started torturing his wife physically and mentally daily. He had no source of income and would try to extract money from his wife.
He wanted her to get Rs 30,000 from her family to purchase a car.
The wife's family refused to give the money. They also know that he also had a second wife.
The family raised objections. These altercations led him to decide on a plan to eliminate his first wife, police told the court.
The murder was well-planned as the objects like hammer, scissors, and screwdriver were procured in advance and concealed in the room. The court took all these details into account and the gory method by which he stabbed his wife to death.
