Karimnagar: ACB nabs Sircilla-based Irrigation Dept EE Amarender Reddy for accepting Rs 60,000 bribe

Karimnagar: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Karimnagar has apprehended Sircilla-based Executive Engineer from the Irrigation Department, Division No. 7, for accepting Rs 60000 bribe.

In a press statement issued, the ACB officials said that at 8 pm on Friday, the accused officer, Arram Reddy Amarender Reddy, was caught red-handed by ACB Karimnagar Unit at his residence when he demanded and accepted Rs 60,000 as a bribe.

The accused officer demanded a bribe from the complainant "for sanctioning the bill of Rs 50 lakh related to the construction of a check dam between Avunuru and Agraram villages, Venkatapur mandal of Rajanna Siricilla district. The work was executed by the complainant a year ago, and payment was yet to be received.

Noticing the arrival of ACB officials, Amarender Reddy wrapped the bribe money in his son's T-shirt without touching it and threw it outside the house compound wall. The tainted bribe of Rs 60,000 was recovered from the open place behind the residential house of Amarender Reddy.

The portion of the T-shirt that came into contact with the tainted bribe amount yielded positive in the chemical test. Thus, the accused officer performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage, ACB said.
