Karimnagar: Class 10 student in serious condition after jumping off school building

Karimnagar: Distressed over being admitted to a residential school, a class 10 student attempted suicide by jumping off the school building. The incident happened in Mahatma Jyotiba Phule residential school in Gangadhar mandal, Karimnagar.

She was immediately taken to the hospital in a serious condition.

It is being said that the student tried to harm herself with a knife last year and was sent back home. As her exams were approaching, she was asked to return to the hostel. She called her parents to go back home but they did not turn up. Upset by this, she resorted to the extreme step.

According to the school authorities, the student went to the third floor of an under-constructed building on the school premises. The teachers and other school staff tried to stop her but she jumped off the building. Fortunately, the school staff were below the building and managed to catch her by holding several blankets.

At the time of the incident, her left leg was fractured.
