The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday arrested an assistant sub-inspector of police at Gangadhara police station in Karimnagar district for demanding Rs 15,000 as a bribe.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday arrested an assistant sub-inspector of police at Gangadhara police station in Karimnagar district for demanding Rs 15,000 as a bribe.

He was caught red-handed at the station after he demanded and accepted the bribe from the complainant Jurru Rajamallu, a resident of Lingampally village in Gangadhara mandal, for "not to harass the complainant who is accused in a case". The bribe amount was recovered from his possession. The ACB said that the ASI took undue advantage of his responsibility and improperly and dishonestly discharged his duties. The ASI was produced before the special judge for SPE&ACB cases, Karimnagar.
