Hyderabad: In a cross-state operation, the RNCC Khammam unit of the EAGLE Force, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Ranchi Division, intercepted a truck carrying 500 kilograms of ganja at Simdega on the Ranchi-Rourkela Road on Tuesday night.

Arrests and ongoing investigation

The accused, Naseem Kamruddin, 30, from Haryana, has been apprehended. Two intended receivers, Mushthaq Khan and Arif, also from Haryana and residing in Varanasi, remain absconding. The investigation is ongoing to track the full network.

Operation launched on credible intelligence

Acting on actionable intelligence regarding suspected ganja suppliers along the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB), RNCC Khammam officers began surveillance on October 19.

The team received specific input that a truck bearing registration HR73 B 4939 would transport a large consignment of ganja during Diwali night to evade routine police checks.

Cross-state pursuit ensues

The truck, which left Janpati GP, Malkangiri District (Odisha) at 9 pm on October 20, was en route to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Initially expected to pass through Telangana, the vehicle diverted north via the Biju Expressway to avoid heavily monitored routes.

RNCC Khammam officers maintained continuous surveillance, relaying real-time updates to their superiors.

Joint interception and seizure

Based on coordinated intelligence, the RNCC Khammam and NCB Ranchi teams intercepted the 10-tyre TATA Heavy Goods Vehicle at Simdega. Authorities seized 500 kilograms of ganja, preventing a major drug consignment from reaching northern markets.

Public urged to report drug crimes

EAGLE authorities called upon citizens to report drug-related activity via toll-free number 1908, WhatsApp 87126 71111, or email tsnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in. All information will be treated confidentially, and credible informants will be suitably rewarded.
