Khammam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Khammam Unit on Monday apprehended Jekki Aruna, sub-registrar of Khammam Rural, and Puchakayala Venkatesh, a private document writer, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
The bribe was demanded to facilitate the registration of a gift deed favouring the complainant’s son, related to a property spanning 2,700 square yards in Thallampadu village, Khammam Rural Mandal.
According to officials, the sub-registrar initially demanded Rs 50,000 but accepted Rs 30,000 through the document writer, who collected the money inside the complainant’s vehicle parked within the sub-registrar office premises.
The ACB recovered the bribe amount from the document writer, whose hands tested positive in a chemical test confirming contact with cash. The accused duo has been arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases in Warangal.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and the complainant’s identity has been kept confidential for security reasons, according to a statement issued by the ACB officials.
