Khazana Jewellers heist: Cyberabad police arrest two more, total six held

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police have arrested two more members of the interstate gang involved in the armed dacoity at Khazana Jewellers in Chandanagar last week, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to six.

Arrest of prime accused
The two arrested men are Prince Kumar Bharathi, said to be the mastermind, and Rohit Kumar Rajak alias Rohit Baitha, who allegedly fired at the deputy manager during the heist on August 12.
The duo were apprehended at Ankleshwar in Gujarat after police tracked the gang’s movements across states.
Earlier arrests in Maharashtra and Hyderabad
Earlier, police teams had arrested four suspects, Aashish Kumar Singh, Deepak Kumar Sah, Anish Kumar Singh, and Prince Kumar Rajak, from Maharashtra and Hyderabad.
From their possession, the police recovered nearly two kilograms of stolen silver ornaments along with a country-made firearm.
The Dacoity at Chandanagar
The incident occurred on August 12, when a six-member gang stormed the Khazana Jewellers outlet at Chandanagar.
During the robbery, the assailants opened fire at the deputy manager, injuring him in the leg, before fleeing with about 10 kilograms of silver ornaments plated with gold. The injured employee is said to be recovering.
Criminal history of the accused
Police investigations revealed that the accused hail from Bihar and are habitual offenders with a series of cases registered against them.
Prince Kumar Bharathi faces at least six cases in Bihar, including charges of dacoity, attempt to murder, forgery, fraud, and NDPS violations.
Rohit Kumar Rajak alias Rohit Baitha is wanted in an armed robbery case registered in Saran district.
Hunt for remaining property
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty said special teams are working to recover additional weapons and stolen ornaments which the gang admitted to hiding. Efforts are also underway to identify and apprehend other associates linked to the case.
Advisory to Jewellery shops
In light of the incident, police urged jewellery shop owners to strengthen security measures, including installing intrusion alarm systems connected to the nearest police stations, and ensuring adequate vigilance during operational hours to prevent such crimes.
