Kishanbagh man arrested for illegal sale of steroid injections at gyms; Rs 1.60 lakh stock seized

Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone team, Hyderabad, apprehended a person who was illegally procuring and selling steroid injections without a valid prescription and selling the same to needy customers. A stock of the injections was seized from the accused.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Faisal Khan (25), a resident of Kishanbagh. The police seized material from him, which includes 133 Mephentermine Sulphate Injections (30 mg), syringes and a phone. The total worth of the seized goods is Rs 1.60 lakh.
Case details
The accused, Mohd. Faisal Khan is engaged in furniture work and regularly visits a gym. During the course of his gym activities, he came to know about the use of steroid injections among youth seeking rapid muscle growth.
Taking advantage of this demand, he hatched a plan to illegally sell steroid injections for monetary gain.
Accordingly, the accused procured steroid injections and sold them to known persons at inflated rates, without possessing a valid drug license or a doctor’s prescription, thereby earning money through illegal means.
Acting on a credible tip-off, the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone Team, apprehended Mohd. Faisal Khan, while he was carrying steroid injection vials near the Asian Theatre, Attapur, Hyderabad.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had purchased the steroid injections from Indian Mart, Surat and was selling them to the customers.
Steroid injections are presently in high demand in the market, particularly among youth seeking rapid muscle growth and for the treatment of low blood pressure. However, the desire for instant results has led to addiction among young individuals, resulting in serious health complications and diseases.
By selling these steroid injections without authorisation, a valid license or a doctor’s prescription, the accused endangered public health and violated the provisions of law while unlawfully enriching himself. The persons who had consumed the steroid injections were counselled and advised to consult qualified medical doctors for proper treatment and guidance.
A case has been registered and further investigation is ongoing.
