Korutla Horror: Pregnant YouTuber Vaishnavi murdered, husband in custody

Korutla: A 23-year-old pregnant YouTuber, C Vaishnavi, was allegedly brutally murdered by her husband at her parental home in Korutla in Jagtial district.

The police is alleging that the killing was driven by dowry harassment and carried out under pressure from his mother and brothers.

The husband has been arrested after he tried to flee to avoid getting caught.

Murder late at night

The incident occurred on Monday night in Madapur village under Korutla limits.

Disclosing the case details before the media on Wednesday, Metpally DSP Ramulu said that the accused, Haribabu, visited his wife, Vaishnavi, at her parents’ house and picked an argument with her.

Later in the night, after other family members had gone to sleep, he allegedly attacked her with a knife and then strangled her. Police suspect the crime was premeditated, as he waited for the household to fall asleep before carrying it out.

After confirming her death, he fled the scene.

Body found in the morning

Vaishnavi’s family members discovered her lying unresponsive the next morning and alerted the police. A case was registered, and teams were formed to trace the accused.

Haribabu was arrested on Tuesday night on the outskirts of Korutla and later remanded to judicial custody.

Dowry harassment angle

Police said the couple had married around seven months ago after a love relationship. At the time of marriage, Vaishnavi’s family had given Rs 5 lakh in cash and two guntas of land as dowry.

However, Haribabu’s family was reportedly unhappy with the alliance and continued to harass her, demanding additional dowry. Investigators said his mother frequently taunted Vaishnavi, while his brothers allegedly pressured him to separate from her.

Pregnancy intensified pressure

Vaishnavi was four months pregnant at the time of the incident.

Police believe her pregnancy further escalated tensions within the family, with the accused’s relatives allegedly urging him to act before the situation became more complicated.

Family members booked

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that he acted under pressure from his mother, Lakshmi, and brothers, Ashok and Anand. Police have booked all three for their alleged role in abetting the crime.

The trio is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.

YouTube career cut short

The couple had recently started a YouTube channel and were gaining traction for their videos on local culture and dialect. In a short span, they had attracted around 57,000 followers.

Shock and outrage

Residents said the couple appeared to have a promising future, making the incident even more shocking.

The brutal killing of a pregnant woman has sparked outrage in the region, once again drawing attention to the continuing menace of dowry harassment and domestic violence.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish all aspects of the case and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
