Kothur Murder: Mandal parishad president, 4 others held

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, the Mallapur village of Kothur mandal in Rangareddy district was rocked by the brutal murder of Karunakar Reddy, a young businessman. The police have arrested the local mandal parishad president (MPP), Pinninti Madhusudhan Reddy, along with four others in connection with the murder.

According to the FIR, Pinninti Madhusudan Reddy, Pinninti Vikram Reddy, Mohammed Aarif Pasha, and Chittedi Arun Kumar Reddy were taken into custody on 18 April at Suncity, Rajendranagar.

The complainant in the case, Chittedi Sridhar Reddy, filed the FIR, alleging that Madhusudhan Reddy had helped Karunakar Reddy establish a document writing business at the Tahasil office in Kothur. However, Madhusudhan Reddy had asked for a partnership in the business for his brother-in-law which Karunakar had denied. This led to differences between Madhusudhan Reddy and Karunakar.

On 16 April, the accused intercepted Karunakar Reddy’s car near Teegapur village and dragged him into a Scorpio vehicle. They took him to an open land in Moinabad where they beat him with sticks. Karunakar succumbed to his injuries and was taken to the Continental Hospital in Gachibowli, claiming that he had been involved in a road accident.

Medical personnel examined the victim at around 9:30 p.m. and declared him brought dead despite the accused’s attempt to cover up the kidnapping and assault. After being notified by the medical authorities, the station house officer (SHO) of Kothur police station visited the hospital and identified the deceased as Karunakar Reddy, the victim who had been kidnapped earlier.

The police have altered the initial section of the law from kidnap to murder. All the suspects will be produced before the court for further investigation.
