Kukatpally tragedy: Mother allegedly kills two young sons, dies by suicide amid domestic dispute

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident in Kukatpally, a mother allegedly killed her two young sons before dying by suicide, reportedly following ongoing domestic disputes with her husband.

Family disputes behind the tragedy

The deceased woman, identified as Sravanthi, was married to Praveen, a native of Warangal district. The couple had two sons, Karthik and Kaushik. According to preliminary information, the couple had been facing frequent marital conflicts.

Tensions escalated further after Praveen reportedly entered into a relationship with another woman and married her a few months ago, which led to serious disputes between the couple.

Sequence of events

Four days before the incident, Sravanthi quarrelled with her husband and returned to her native village. Praveen later went there, and after discussions with elders, brought her back to Kukatpally.

On Tuesday morning, while Praveen had gone to work, Sravanthi allegedly killed both her children at home and later died by suicide.

When Praveen returned, he found the doors locked from the inside. With the help of locals, he broke open the door and discovered the bodies of his wife and children.

Police investigation underway

Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the scene, shifted the bodies to a government hospital for post-mortem, and registered a case.

Balanagar ACP Naresh Reddy stated that the police are investigating how the children were killed and the exact circumstances that led to the suicide.

Tension in native village

The incident triggered tension in Sravanthi’s native village, Bodamaniky Thanda in Chennaraopet mandal of Warangal district. Her relatives alleged that harassment by her husband led to the tragic act.

In a dramatic turn, enraged family members of Sravanthi reportedly set fire to Praveen’s house in the village. They also accused him of being responsible for her death, alleging that his second marriage and behaviour drove her to take the extreme step.

Allegations and counterclaims

Family members claim that Sravanthi was subjected to harassment and blame Praveen for the incident. Police said they are examining all claims, including allegations of domestic abuse and the circumstances surrounding Praveen’s reported second marriage.
