Kurnool: In a shocking case driven by obsession and revenge, a woman allegedly attempted to murder the wife of her former lover by administering a suspected virus-laced injection after staging a road accident in Kurnool.

The victim narrowly escaped death due to timely medical treatment. Police have arrested four accused in connection with the crime.

Love affair turns into deadly vendetta

Kurnool DSP Babu Prasad said a city-based doctor was previously in a relationship with a local woman, Vasundhara. Though the two were close, their relationship eventually broke down and did not culminate in marriage.

Sometime later, the doctor married another woman, Sravani, who is also a medical professional. Following the marriage, he distanced himself from Vasundhara. Police said this triggered deep resentment in her, which gradually turned into a murderous plot targeting his wife.

Investigators found that she had enlisted the help of another woman, Jyothi, along with two others, to carry out the plan.

Accident staged to execute murder plan

On January 9, Sravani was travelling on her two-wheeler when another scooter deliberately rammed into her near the KC Canal area. As she fell onto the road, two women rushed to the spot and convinced her to get into an auto, claiming they would take her to a hospital.

Under the guise of administering first aid, the accused injected her with a substance suspected to be a viral or toxic injection they had brought with them.

Victim escapes due to timely help

Sensing danger and experiencing severe distress, the victim raised an alarm, prompting the attackers to flee the scene. She was immediately shifted to a hospital, where prompt treatment saved her life. Following a complaint filed by her husband, Three Town Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

CCTV footage cracks the case

Using CCTV footage and technical surveillance, police uncovered the conspiracy and identified Vasundhara as the mastermind behind the attack.

All four accused have been arrested.

Probe on injection continues

Police stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact nature of the injection used in the attack. Authorities said a detailed forensic report is awaited, after which a chargesheet will be filed.

“This was a premeditated attempt to murder, meticulously planned,” DSP Babu Prasad said, adding that strict legal action will follow based on the final medical and forensic findings.
