Law student gangraped in Vizag; 4 accused arrested

Visakhapatnam: In a shocking incident, a law student was raped by four men in Visakhapatnam. The four accused have been arrested under II Town police station limits.
While the incident happened a few months ago, the incident came to light when the victim attempted suicide, following blackmail threats by the accused.
Speaking to a news channel, Vizag commissioner Shanka Brata Bagchi said that they have arrested four persons involved in the gang rape. A preliminary investigation found that the victim and one of the accused were friends for a few months, while the other three were his friends.
The police stated that the main accused got close to the victim on the pretext of love. Later, the main accused and his friends raped her. The four have reportedly recorded abusing the victim and started blackmailing her using it. Unable to bear the harassment, the victim tried to commit suicide. She was rescued by her father who then came to know about the incident. He immediately lodged a police complaint.
Responding to the incident, home minister Vangalpudi Anitha spoke to the Vizag commissioner. She assured immediate justice to the victim.
More details on this case are yet to be revealed by the police.
