LB Nagar: Man who snatched gold chain from 50YO woman held
Chain snatching incidents are on the rise in all three commissionerates in Hyderabad. Recently, on 7 January, six chain snatching cases were reported in six locations in the Hyderabad tri-commissionerate limits.

She was returning to her residence after purchasing the vegetables. When she reached Venture-II, SBH Colony, a man started following her on his motorcycle. When she entered a by-lane, the man got down from his bike, ran after her, and snatched her gold chain. He immediately fled the spot.
The incident happened on 12 January at around 3:30 p.m in LB Nagar. The 50-year-old Chetalla Bavamma was the victim and the accused was identified as Gudem Solaiah from Kurnool district. He had migrated from Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad.
The LB Nagar police arrested Solaiah on Monday and recovered the 27-gram gold chain and a motorcycle, all worth Rs. 1,30,000.
Solaiah used to work as a private driver. Later, he started working for online food and services delivery apps like DriveU, Blinkit, Zepto, and Rapido as a part-time employee. His earnings were not enough to meet his familyās needs and his bad vices. He decided to snatch chains to make easy money after watching news reports of chain snatchings on TV.
Boy caught after failed chain snatching
In another incident in the Rachakonda police station limits, a child in conflict with law was caught after he snatched a womanās chain in Jawaharnagar. On 13 January, the woman, who runs a provision shop, was going home from her shop at Maruthinagar in Dammaiguda. The boy followed her on his bike, stopped the bike, ran after her, and tried to snatch the gold chain from her neck but failed. When the woman made a hue and cry, he fled away on his bike. On receiving the dial 100 call, the Jawaharnagar police and the crime team reached the spot and caught the boy after examining CCTV footage.

According to sources, two of the incidents happened in Uppal, and one case in Ramgopalpet, Nacharam, Chilakaguda, and Osmania University police station limits. The six incidents happened early in the morning in a span of two hours.
