Liquor smuggled in medical emergency van; Hyderabad STF seizes 24 Glenlivet bottles, arrests 2

Hyderabad: The Special Task Force (STF) seized as many as 24 premium liquor bottles worth Rs 1.7 lakh that were being illegally transported in a blood plasma vehicle operating between Delhi and Hyderabad.

Liquor was being smuggled from Delhi to Hyderabad
According to STF A-Team leader Anji Reddy, the accused were using a vehicle meant for transporting life-saving blood plasma for critically ill patients to illegally ferry expensive liquor bottles from Delhi to Hyderabad.
The vehicle, driven by Chintala Jaipal Reddy, regularly operated on the Delhi–Hyderabad route. Taking advantage of the lower liquor prices in Delhi, the accused allegedly transported premium liquor bottles concealed inside the plasma vehicle.

Officials allegedly involved
Investigations revealed that certain senior office staff members had allegedly been sourcing Glenlivet premium liquor bottles through the driver on multiple occasions. Jaipal Reddy is said to have received a commission for facilitating the supply.
Acting on credible information, the STF team conducted vehicle checks on the Gagillapur–Narsapur highway stretch and intercepted the plasma vehicle. During the inspection, 24 bottles of Glenlivet liquor were found and seized.
Value of seized liquor
Officials estimated the total value of the seized liquor at approximately Rs 1.70 lakh.
Police arrested Chintala Jaipal Reddy and Balakrishna Reddy in connection with the case. Cases were also registered against Vinny Kumar and Kanuganti Tirupati, STF officials said.
The accused and the seized liquor bottles were handed over to the Qutbullapur Excise Station for further legal action.
Authorities stated that a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the illegal network and the involvement of other individuals.
