Hyderabad: The Rachakonda cyber crimes police on 17 June arrested a 24-year-old man for harassing people who had taken loans from loan app companies.
A case under various sections of the IPC and the IT Act was registered against Shoaib Aktar of Uttar Dinajpur district in West Bengal. The police seized various items from him, including three mobile phones, a laptop, two cheque books, debit cards, 12 Sim cards, a fingerprint scanner, and cash Rs. 5,200.
Shoaib was part of a loan recovery team for loan app companies. He had gathered details of borrowers and saved them on his laptop. Though he lost his job, he continued to harass borrowers, asking them to repay the loans. He sent morphed photos of the victim's friends and family members to the victim's contacts.
A person who had taken a loan from KreditBee Instant Loan app had filed a complaint against Shoaib. Though the complainant had repaid the loan, he continued to receive harassing calls and morphed photos of his friends and family. The caller also threatened to send the photos to the complainant's contacts through WhatsApp.
During the investigation, the police found that Shoaib was involved in similar offences in various police stations of Telangana.
The Rachakonda cyber crime team went to West Bengal and arrested Shoaib and brought him to Hyderabad on a transit remand and sent him to judicial custody.
