Hyderabad: The Rachakonda cybercrime police arrested a cyberstalker who defamed a person by posting his and his relatives' phone numbers on fake Instagram accounts with explicit content. The accused has been identified as Jatavath Sidhu (22), a resident of Keesara in Medchal Malkajgiri. He was arrested on 26 May, produced before the court, and sent to judicial custody. The mobile phone that was used to commit the offence was also seized from him.
The complainant in his statement said he was engaged. He claimed that his family and his fiancée' s family received abusive messages from several numbers. He also came to know that all their numbers were posted on a fake Instagram account with explicit content. Based on the complaint, the sleuths of the Rachakonda cybercrime police station took up an investigation. During the investigation, it was found that Jatavath Siddu wanted to marry the complainant's fiancée. So, he decided to thwart their marriage.
To defame the couple, Sidhu created fake Instagram accounts with the mobile numbers of the complainant and his fiancée's relatives and sent derogatory and vulgar messages. He also sent messages to their family members to create a bad impression about the complainant's fiancée.
A case has been registered against Sidhu under sections 354-D and 419 of the IPC and sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act.
