Machilipatnam : 2 BPharm students drown in sea
The locals said the Manginapudi beach is highly accident-prone
By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 May 2022 12:57 PM GMTVijayawada: A joy trip turned tragic for a group of friends who had gone for a splash at the Maniganapudi beach in Machilipatnam in Krishna district after two of them drowned and died on Monday. The victims have been identified as Kakara Pramila Rani (22) and Kallepalli Poojitha (22), BPharmacy students of a private college in Bheemavaram.
The police said Pramila, Poojitha, and their friend D. Asha Jyothi decided to go to Manginapudi beach. While Asha Jyothi was sitting on the beach, Pramila and Poojitha ventured into the waters. They were caught in a strong current that took them deep into the sea. The police, with the support of a few others, immediately swung into action to rescue the girls. After arduous efforts, they managed to bring the duo to shore. The two were taken to the nearby hospital. They died while undergoing treatment.
The police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC (unnatural death). The bodies were shifted to the morgue for post-mortem.
The locals said the Manginapudi beach is highly accident-prone and a high number of drowning cases are reported due to the strong currents.
