Hyderabad: In a terrifying incident at the Adarsh Cooperative Urban Bank in Shapurnagar, Jeedimetla a person with a suspected explosive device wrapped around his abdomen demanded cash from the bank staff. The incident occurred on Friday around 5 p.m., leaving the bank employees and a few customers on edge.

The accused, identified as 32-year-old Busa Shivaji, threatened to detonate the device if his demands were not met. Swift action was taken by the bank staff, who alerted the authorities and engaged in negotiations with Shivaji for approximately an hour while the police arrived at the scene.

After negotiations, Shivaji eventually admitted that the threat was fake, providing relief for everyone involved. However, he was detained by the authorities for further investigation and precautionary measures.

According to Jeedimetla station house officer M. Pavan, Shivaji made additional demands for money or employment. It was later revealed that he previously worked as a crane operator but lost his job due to vision problems.

The CEO of Adarsh Cooperative Urban Bank, M.V. Ramana, filed a written complaint at the Medchal district court detailing the incident. According to Mr. Ramana, an unidentified individual entered the bank branch at around 4:45 p.m. and threatened the cashier, displaying what appeared to be explosives attached to his body. The bank staff promptly triggered a panic alarm and contacted the emergency services, assuring that no financial losses were incurred.

A case has been registered under section 387 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Medchal police station. Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the incident and assess the credibility of the explosive threat.
