Hyderabad: The Neredmet Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for unlawfully entering a place of worship and committing an indecent act in front of a deity at the Katta Maisamma Temple in Safilguda.
The incident, which occurred late on Saturday night, triggered immediate police action, leading to the accused being taken into custody.
Religious sentiments hurt
According to police, the accused unlawfully entered the Katta Maisamma Temple premises on the night of January 10 and allegedly committed indecent acts in front of the idol, hurting religious sentiments and disturbing public order.

The arrested individual has been identified as Altaf (26), son of Alla Bakash, a native of Hugeri village in Bidar district of Karnataka.
Police arrested the accused and produced him before the court on January 11. The magistrate remanded him to judicial custody.
Authorities stated that verification of the accused’s antecedents and history is currently underway, and further action will be taken strictly in accordance with the law.
Don’t believe rumours, say police
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri Zone, Ch Sridhar, appealed to the public not to believe or circulate rumours or unverified information on social media or other platforms.
Citizens have been urged to rely only on official police communication and to cooperate with the investigation.

Police cautioned that spreading misinformation could lead to unnecessary panic and disturb public peace. They appealed to all sections of society to remain calm, uphold communal harmony and support law enforcement efforts in maintaining order.
