Man gets 10 years jail in 2011 rape case

Hyderabad: A special court in Nalgonda convicted a 30-year-old man in a rape case and sentenced him to 10 years in prison on 6 April.

On 2 October 2011, the Mothkur police received a complaint from the victim who said that a day earlier while she was on her way to the fields, Neelagiri Narsaiah caught her and dragged her behind the bushes near the Moosi river. He threw her on the ground and raped her. When she tied to scream, the accused threatened her with an axe and escaped from there.

The Mothkur police registered a case based on the victim's complaint. Neelagiri Narsaiah was arrested and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime. He was remanded to judicial custody. On completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the court.

During the trail on Tuesday, the Nalgonda court convicted Neelagiri Narsaiah to undergo 10 years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000.
