Man gets 3 yrs jail for abetting wife's suicide in 2018
By Newsmeter Network Published on 2 May 2022 2:55 PM GMTHyderabad: A local court here sentenced a 45-year-old man to three years in prison in a case of domestic violence and abetment to suicide.
On the evening of 2 May 2018, the LB Nagar police received a complaint from Katakam Krishnama Chary (55), a resident of Indurthy village under Marriguda mandal in Nalgonda district. He alleged that his eldest daughter Ragiani Radhika had ended her life after she was mentally and physically tortured by her husband Ragiani Bramha Chary. He said that Chary was an alcoholic who used to harass his wife.
On 1 May 2018, Chary beat Radhika, injuring her. He also reportedly asked her to end her life. Following this quarrel, Radhika wrote a suicide note on her left hand and killed herself. Based on the complaint a case was registered at the LB Nagar police station. On completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed.
During the trial held on 2 April 2022, the court convicted Ragiani Bramha Chary to undergo three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 1,500 against him.
