Visakhapatnam: A man axed his wife to death and later died by suicide at Ramaraopalem under Lothugedda panchayat in Vizag Agency.
The victims were identified as G. Ganapati (37) and his wife Tulasi (34). Both were agricultural labourers. The police said Ganapathi was an alcoholic and often fought with his wife over petty issues.
On Monday night, they had a heated argument and in a fit of anger, a drunk Ganapati axed his wife to death. He then locked the house from inside.
On Tuesday, the locals noticed that Tulasi had been murdered. They tried to enter the house but Ganapati didn't open the door. He threatened to kill anyone who entered the house. The locals alerted the Chintapalle police about the murder.
Later, Ganapati slit his throat with a knife and bled to death.
The couple had two children, Sai and Santhosh.
