Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh police arrested a person who posted objectionable social media posts about Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other ruling party leaders. He was later released on bail by a local court on Thursday evening.

The accused, Ponduri Kotiratnam Anjan (34), was arrested in Gannavaram in Krishna district for posting derogatory messages on social media. Anjan did his MS in the US and worked at a company there for three years before returning to India in 2015.

He was arrested based on a complaint lodged by a local YSRCP worker.

According to the police, Anjan created Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts and uploaded objectionable posts against Jagan Mohan Reddy. He allegedly shared unverified news causing damage to the state government and allegedly posted messages in favour of the opposition TDP.

The police seized his mobile phones and laptops, and sent the same to the forensic science laboratory for examination.

The police had registered a case against him under section 153A of the IPC. The police said that a cyber bully sheet will be opened to monitor his activities.
