Man involved in 250 burglaries nabbed

The sleuths of the Commissioner's Task Force, North Zone team, Hyderabad, along with Begumpet Police, apprehended a notorious house burglar, Manthri Shankar, and his three associates, Abdul Latif Khan, Mohd Majid, and Mohd Imtiyaz Ahmed.

Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Commissioner's Task Force, North Zone team, Hyderabad, along with Begumpet Police, apprehended a notorious house burglar, Manthri Shankar, and his three associates, Abdul Latif Khan, Mohd Majid, and Mohd Imtiyaz Ahmed.

Manthri Shankar is said to have committed 250 house burglaries and theft under the tri commissionerates. He was convicted in 209 cases so far. According to the police, Manthri Shankar was born in Chilklaguda, Secunderabad. He studied till Class 7 and later became an autorickshaw driver. It is said that he turned to crime after his income failed to support his luxurious lifestyle.

Speaking about Shankar's modus operandi, police said that Shankar would break into houses using an iron rod and screwdriver that he used to hide under his clothing. He would gain entry into houses by breaking open the main door's lock/latch to steal gold and silver ornaments, cash, and other valuables. He was a master in opening locks and would take only 10 seconds to break open a lock. He used to commit offenses between 1 am to 4 am. He used to change his associates once arrested by the police and kept shifting his residence from one place to another to avoid police surveillance.

The accused along with the property seized from them was handed over to SHO, Begumpet PS for further investigation.
