Man stabbed to death after argument in Uppal, two arrested in 6 hours
Hyderabad: Uppal police arrested two youths within six hours of a murder for their alleged involvement. A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death during a dispute at Chilkanagar in Uppal on Sunday night.
The accused allegedly lured the victim to a ground in the area and attacked him with a knife following a heated argument linked to a personal dispute.
How did the murder unfold?
According to police, the victim, Paruvula Sudheer Kumar, was attacked around 7:30 pm on March 15 at the Chilkanagar ground.
Sudheer had reached the spot along with his friend Imran Khan on a motorcycle after being called there by the accused. During the meeting, a quarrel broke out between Sudheer and one of the accused, Banothu Santosh alias Santhu, who allegedly took out a knife and stabbed him.
Police said Sudheer attempted to flee after the first attack, but Santosh and his friend Podishetty Tarun chased him and stabbed him multiple times, killing him on the spot.
Complaint filed by relative
The incident came to light after Sudheer’s brother-in-law Kanupur Srikanth, a hotel worker from Medipally, lodged a complaint with Uppal police at around 10:30 pm.
Srikanth said he rushed to the spot after receiving a phone call from a friend informing him about a quarrel between Sudheer and Santosh. On reaching the location, he found Sudheer lying on the road in a pool of blood.
Dispute over housewarming event
Police said the accused and the deceased had been friends for several years.
The dispute reportedly began after Sudheer invited them to his brother-in-law’s housewarming ceremony a few days earlier, but allegedly did not respond to their phone calls on the day of the event.
This led to arguments between them over phone and WhatsApp calls, which eventually escalated into the fatal attack when the accused called Sudheer to the Chilkanagar ground.
Arrest and seizure
Based on the complaint, police registered a case (Crime No. 364/2026) under Sections 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Within six hours of the murder, Uppal police apprehended the two accused. Officers seized the knife used in the attack, two mobile phones, an Activa motorcycle and the clothes worn by the accused.
