Mangalhat shop owner held for selling rotten goat, sheep organs for consumption; 12 tonnes of meat seized

Hyderabad: A person was arrested for illegally preserving and selling stale/spoiled sheep and goat offal (edible internal organs such as heart, kidney and liver).
As much as 12 tonnes of the offal worth Rs 8 lakh was seized by the sleuths of Commissionerās Task Force, South West Zone team, and veterinary doctor, Goshamahal circle, GHMC, during a raid on the shop named A to Z sheep and goat offal at Chisti Chaman Dargah, Mangalhat.
Case details
The accused has been identified as Mohd Afroz (40).
Mohd Afroz was found illegally purchasing stale/spoiled offal of sheep and goats at a cheap rate from the wholesale market and preserving the same at his A to Z Sheep and Goat offal store at Mangalhat. Further, he supplied the stale/spoiled offals of sheep and goats at marriage functions, events and hotels to earn money by putting peopleās lives in danger.
Consuming these stale/spoiled offals of sheep and goats can lead to various health issues. Acting on a tip, the Commissionerās Task Force, South West Zone team and veterinary doctor, the raid was conducted.
Previously, as much as 600 kg of rotten chicken was seized from SSS Chicken Shop and Ravi Chicken Shop at Anna Nagar and Arjun Nagar, Begumpet, Secunderabad. The rotten chicken was found during a raid by Hyderabad Task Force officials and sanitary department staff.
The chicken was found stored in a frozen state in the form of waste and bones.
