Prime accused Maoist leader Janumuri Srinubabu alias Sunil alias Rhino

Visakhapatnam, February 22: ASR district Police on Tuesday arrested top Maoist leader Janumuri Srinubabu alias Sunil alias Rhino, the prime accused in the murder of the then Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and the former MLA Siveri Soma in 2018.

Police have claimed that the Maoist Srinubabu, who is a Divisional Committee Member (DCM) of the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee of the banned outfit was arrested during the exchange of fire in a forest area. The Maoist leader was carrying a cash reward of Rs five lakh on his head.

It may be recalled that a group of Maoists gunned down Araku MLA Kidari (TDP) and former MLA Siveri Soma of the same constituency, also of the TDP near Livitiput under Dumbriguda Mandal in ASR district, close to the Odisha Border on September 23, 2018.

The ASR district police chief Satish Kumar said that they have recovered a gun, an IED, some explosive material and some revolutionary literature, and some cash from the Maoist Srinubabu.

Srinibabu joined the Maoist party in the year 2000 and worked in Yellavaram, Gurthedu, and Nandapur dalams of the banned outfit. He worked as commander of CRC-3 Company, the technical team of AOB of the party, and also worked as commander of the protection squad for Maoist top leader RK (who passed away a few months ago).

Police said that Srinubabu was involved in many offenses in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. He was also involved in ambushes in various locations. The arrested Maoist was produced before the court.
