East Godavari: Maoists have abducted a 14-year-old-tribal boy in a bid to recruit him in their ranks in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

All eyes are now on the AP police as to how they will rescue the boy.

Maoists have kidnaped the Class IX student from his house after threatening his parents in Gollaguppa village of Vissapuram Panchayat under Yetapaka Mandal of East Godavari district.

Though the incident took place last month, it came to light on December 21 after parents of the boy approached the Yetapaka police requesting them to secure his release from the rebels.

Parents and villagers didn't dare to complain fearing reprisal from rebels. Villagers alleged that the red-rebels kidnapped the boy to enroll him as a child soldier.

Villagers also alleged that the Maoists have been coercing them to provide food and other essential commodities

The tribals from Chhattisgarh and Odisha have been hiding in the Reserve forest areas of Yetapaka, Kunavaram, V.R.Puram, and Chinturu of Chinturu Sub Division of East Godavari District all along the border of Andhra Pradesh by doing Podu cultivation.

Based on the complaint from the parents, the sub-inspector of Yetapaka, Jwala Sagar registered a case and the investigation is on.
