Visakhapatnam: A day after two Maoists were gunned down on Andhra-Odisha border, the members of the banned CPI (Maoist) struck back with vengeance and killed a tribal from Vakapalli village in G. Madugula Mandal in Visakha Agency.
The slain has been identified as one Gemmili Krishna Rao. He was allegedly killed on the suspicion of being a police informer. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night.
According to sources, around 20 to 30 Maoists kidnapped Krishna Rao from his home and hacked him to death at a place close to the village. Maoists also left a letter claiming that the man was a "police informer".
Maoists stated that Krishna Rao was active in all the community policing initiatives being taken up by the District Police in the agency area.
Maoists said the slain was forcing tribal youth to take part in the 'Jana Maitri' programme launched by the police. They said Krishna Rao was also motivating the youth to take part in the volleyball tournaments being conducted by the police.
Maoists noted that Krishna Rao had given shelter to a police informer, who had allegedly played a role in aiding the cops in Ramaguda encounter.
As per the letter, Krishna Rao was killed by the members of PLGA from Pedabayalu and Korukona Area Committee, for his anti-party activities. Maoists said he was killed after a Praja Court was organized. The letter also stated that he was warned on several occasions, but he ignored it.
