Marredpally SHO accused of raping woman, suspended

Hyderabad: Marredpally SHO K. Nageshwar Rao was suspended on 9 July after a rape case was filed against him at the Vanasthalipuram police station. A case for violating the Arms Act has also been registered against the SHO.

Karkhana inspector C. Nethaji has been posted as the new SHO of Marredpally.

Nageshwar Rao has been booked under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act 1959.

On 8 July, a woman filed a complaint at the Vanasthalipuram police station against Rao stating that he raped her and threatened her and her husband with a revolver. The woman's husband was reportedly arrested by Rao in 2018.

On 6 July, Rao reportedly made a WhatsApp call to the woman seeking sexual favours while her husband was away. The next morning, Rao trespassed into the woman's house in Vanasthalipuram, beat her, and raped her.

In the meantime, the woman's husband arrived, kicked open the door, and beat Rao with a stick. Rao threatened the couple with a revolver and beat the husband. He asked them to leave Hyderabad and threatened to file a case against them if they did not.

Later, Rao took them to Ibrahimpatnam. While they were in the car, they met with an accident at Ibrahimpatnam lake on the morning of 8 July. The woman and her husband escaped and she filed a case.
