Nalgonda: Two days after the model code of conduct (MCC) came into force, police recovered gold worth Rs 5.73 crore from a vehicle at Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district.
Miryalaguda police found the gold being illegally transported by three persons in a Bolero vehicle in Miryalaguda town during a vehicle check.
On Monday, Miryalaguda Inspector Sudhakar and his team, while conducting vehicle checking at Eedulaguda Chowrastha, intercepted a Bolero vehicle with three people on board. The vehicle was going towards Kodad when it was stopped for checking.
During checking, they found gold worth Rs 5.73 Crore being transported in it illegally in violation of the guidelines of the ECI.
Flying Squad has lodged a complaint, and the gold has been seized.
Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Chandana Deepthi said as a part of the implementation of MCC, they have been keeping a tight vigil to prevent illegal transportation of cash and other valuables to lure the voters.
During last year's assembly polls, a massive stash of unauthorized cash, gold, and other valuables were seized in Telangana.
